Belgrano

Belgrano Central has two principal avenues: Cabildo and Juramento. Its main streets contain the heart and soul of the neighborhood. Belgrano R is a selective residential zone with large houses, constructed in an Anglo Saxon style, surrounded by leafy trees and gardens that give it an elegant feel and also serve to preserve the historical mansions. This zone of the neighborhood has been heavily influenced by foreigners, such as the British and Germans, who valued its picturesque feeling. Palermo

THE ROSEDAL AND PALERMO'S LAKE
The rosedal and the Palermo lake, have become one of the best prefered tours offered by our city. A quick walk at dawn to begin the day with energy, a ride on boat on a Sunday's afternoon or simply a meeting with friends to enjoy the sun are some of the options found in such a carachteristical zone of Buenos Aires . Nowadays, with its entrance guarded, has became an unique place in Buenos Aires. The combination of the bridges and the great variety of colourful flowers resulting in a fantastic scenery. Every Sunday an unique atmosphere of happyness dominates the area, with people of all ages walking, rollerblading, riding their bycicles or just playing volleyball. Lately, in the afternoon, also in Palermo you can enjoy a growing phenomenon: artistics groups such as murgas, puppet masters, actors and singers who act for the passers-by just for a tip. The Palermo lake, the rosedal, can be visited once and again without becoming tiring or boring.
One of the newest museums founded in the city is Malba: Museum of Latin American Art of Buenos Aires. This museum exhibits artworks made by Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera, Tarsilia do Amaral, Wilfredo Lam and the main Argentine artists.
The Parque 3 de Febrero (3 de Febrero Park) in Palermo neighborhood, is the major green area of the City.
Since the famous landscape architect Carlos Thays projected and developed this park in the decade of 1890, it offers leafy trees, beautiful sculptures, secret paths, fragrant gardens and a magnificent body of water.

Palermo

With its main avenue being the Avenida del Libertador, this neighborhood is the most wooded and expansive area of the city. It woods and flowered gardens make up the largest "green space" in Buenos Aires. These gardens have magnolias,"jacarandaes", lapachos, pines, araucarias and many varieties of palms. It is the ideal place for a walk on Sunday. Around the lake you will see people playing sports, taking a stroll through the park, roller-blading, riding bicycles and sun bathing. Because Palermo is such a large neighborhood, it is divided into three areas: Palermo Viejo (Old Palermo), Palermo Chico (Small Palermo), and Jardines de Palermo (Gardens of Palermo).
Palermo Chico and the Jardines de Palermo extend from Plaza Italia to the east and are one of the gems of the city.
In the Jardines de Palermo there is a statue of Sarmiento, created by sculptor Auguste Rodin in 1900. Also, the famous Rosedal, with its lake, and the Patio Andaluz. You can also see the colossal Monument of the Spaniards that was given to the city by Sevilla, Spain and finally the Planetario Galileo Galilei (planetarium).
It is an elegant neighborhood with top-notch building and confiterias. It also has a lot of embassies and museums. The sensorial mansions of neoclassic French style dominate the buildings of this area.
Examples of these are the Spanish Embassy at Avenida Libertador 2075, located in Plaza Rufino de Elizalde, that in 1914 was the residence of the Dodero family: the Italian Embassy at Billinghurst 2577, that in 1925 was built to be the house of the old families Alvear and Basualdo. Both embassies are located in what is considered Palermo Chico, an exclusive residential sector also known as "Grand Bourg."
In Palermo you can also find the principal exposition centers of the city: Predio Ferial de Palermo and the Centro Municipal de Exposiciones.
Palermo Viejo, located to the west of Plaza Italia, is the oldest part of this neighborhood. With low houses, where in a malevo age godfathers and poets lived, it is a testimony to the history and mythic legends. Currently, this zone has a variety of picturesque restaurants and interesting antique stores that you can pass through in the afternoon or at night. Its illumination gives it a unique and attractive feeling.
The history of the neighborhood begins with where it got its name: from the businessman Juan Dominguez Palermo, who fearlessly sought to acquire the area's land. Upon discovering that the land was apt for agricultural use, its value rose and he was able to find new buyers and investors.

Palermo Chico y Jardines de Palermo

This area of the neighborhood has stunning mansions, quaint streets, and larges plazas and parks. Its woods, filled with flower gardens and lakes, forms the largest green space in Buenos Aires and is perhaps the largest of all the world's larges cities. It is on par with Hyde Park in London or the famous Bois de Boulogne in Paris. Embassies of many countries have chosen to put their headquarters and residences there.
The birth of the area is connected with don Juan Manuel de Rosas who, having acquired the land in 1836, built his residence on the southeast corner of Libertador and Sarmiento. On November 11, 1875, due to a Domingo F. Sarmiento's initiative, the park Tres de Febrero was inaugurated. Soon thereafter, the Jardin Botanico and the Jardin Zoologico were created.

Palermo Viejo

Palermo Viejo is today one of the prime cultural zones of the city, as well as being an intellectual center. It is a great place to find a restaurant or go out as it has an infinite number of bars, pubs and restaurants of all styles. Its architecture and feel is similar to bohemian neighborhoods in New York like Soho. It in fact has sub sectors with the names "Palermo Hollywood" and "Palermo Soho." There is also an area called Villa Freud where there is a large quantity of psychoanalysts who have chosen the neighborhood to set up their practices.
Palermo is also a vanguard in style, design and an entrance stage for young artists and designers.
There are diverse modes of transportation that can be found all along Santa Fe Avenue that will take you anywhere in the city. When it first emerged, more than 100 years ago, Palermo was a neighborhood of "guapos," inhabited by marginal people," malevos" and prostitutes. This is immortalized in many stories by the Argentine writer Jorge Luis Borges, , who in his "milongas" depicts the "taitas" and "guapos" who lived in the area. It was also a refuge for tango because in certain times to dance it was considered a sin. Nevertheless, places such as "Lo de Hansen" and "Les Ambassadeurs" that were true pinnacles of the tango cult, with one for the working classes and the other for the upper classes, were in Palermo.
At that time, Palermo was the geographic urban border What today is known as Juan B. Justo Avenue was the Maldonado creek that has since been changed to run through a tube underneath the avenue. It was difficult to cross and thus became a natural border of the city. A slum, characterized by "arrabaleras" or promiscuous women, began to form in which the use of "lunfardo."a type of slang particular to Buenos Aires, was widespread.

Recoleta Neighborhood

Plaza Francia offers a green place ideal for those who love spending Sunday's afternoons in the open air. There you will be able not only to breath fresh air but also to have a look at craftmen's work, such as paintings, clothes, jewelleries...This is also the place chosen by young people who want to have a good time listening to music or watching a good play without spending much money. For art lovers, La Recoleta offers two traditional places of BA, such as the museum of Bellas Artes ( where paintings created by well known argentinian artists can be appreciated) and the Palais de Glace with its itinerant expositions of high level. In addition to this, the Recoleta Cultural Centre is one of the other major attractions of BA. Music, paintings, theater plays, cinema, music festivals and any kind of art expression find a place here. We can't avoid mentioning the space known as Buenos Aires Desing, where you will find different shops with all kind of decorative objects and the spectacular terrace with bars and restaurants. The traditional cafe La Biela is an ideal place for those who want to have a drink after the walk. Another amazing place to visit is the Recoleta graveyard, which is an important part of the history of the city. There it is where photography and art students are likely to take their classes, due to the architechtural richness featured in the "mausoleos" of men and women who built the history of our country, such as Sarmiento, Eva Perón or Bartolomé Mitre. It's worth visiting this beautyful part of BA since there are a lot of interesting things to do. The Rosedal and the Palermo lake, have become one of the best prefered tours offered by our city. A quick walk at dawn to begin the day with energy, a ride on boat on a Sunday's afternoon or simply a meeting with friends to enjoy the sun are some of the options found in such a carachteristical zone of the Reina del Plata.
